Central Coast North
California's golden hills are at their loveliest in the waning light of a clear Central Coast evening. And skating here is most popular in the more populated areas near the coast and bordering mountain ranges.
Although Monterey has several scenic beach routes for recreational rolls, there's also a dedicated aggressive skating scene. Team Adventures of Pacific Grove, a very active group that competes on the aggressive skating circuit, travels around Northern California to perform demos at various in-line events, with tryouts once a year to bring in new talent.
In the farming communities of the Salinas River valley floor, in-line skating has yet to overtake skateboarding. To the south in Paso Robles, however, roller hockey has taken off in a big way, with teams practicing and competing at the fairgrounds arena. Equally gung-ho leagues have formed across the hills in coastal Morro Bay.
