Directions
Traveling either north or south on U.S. 101 in south Gilroy, take the Gavilan College exit to the west. This is Castro Valley Road, which is not a ramp exit but a simple "T" intersection at 101. Half a mile up the road, turn right at the stop sign onto Santa Theresa Boulevard, then left at the Gavilan College entrance sign. Park where you think you can get away with it without a sticker.
Notes
In hot garlic country, it's nice to have shade when you take to the pavement. Gavilan College officially "frowns on" in-lining (as officials themselves put it), but no one asks skaters to leave. You can play it safe on the sidewalks and roads or explore more challenging campus terrain. Because the college is at the base of some low hills, there are quite a few stairs and slopes. The downside: many sidewalks are made of a pebbled composite that causes wheel vibration.
