Directions
From State Highway 60 at Moreno Valley east of Riverside, take the Moreno Beach Drive exit, south. This is also the exit for Lake Perris State Recreational Area. Proceed across the valley and climb the hill through the relatively new Moreno Valley Ranch Golf Club housing development. Almost three miles from Highway 60, Moreno Beach Drive turns left to go over the hill to Lake Perris; instead, go straight and you'll be on Iris Street. Just a block up on the right, park in the hospital parking lot.
Notes
The sidewalks bordering Moreno Beach Drive and Iris Street are 10 feet wide and smooth enough for some sublime hill skating. Both streets are four-lane roads with meridian strips and wide, clearly marked bike lanes. Flowing down the long hill on Iris Street from the Perris Lake turnoff, the sidewalk curves and undulates in a regular rhythm for nearly two miles through the grassy landscaping at the side of the road. When you get back to the hospital, follow Moreno Beach Drive back north toward Highway 60 to enjoy its long decline. After your hilly workout, check out the homes in the Moreno Valley Ranch Golf Club housing development on both sides of Moreno Beach Drive. The Moreno Valley itself is very pretty, with wide-open views of rolling hills, best appreciated in winter and early spring.
