Directions

Notes
This trail is part of 150 miles of bike trails that are planned for the city of Folsom. It begins in a marshy area where redwing blackbirds can be seen in the cattails, and wild blackberries grow along the trail. Shortly it enters the shade of cottonwood trees growing along abandoned railroad tracks, and then continues upstream through more open terrain shaded by pine and oak trees. As of August 2003 it ends in a residential neighborhood 2.2 miles from the start. The trail is planned to be extended to connect with the eastern portion of the parkway in 2004. When completed there will be 11 miles of trails through the parkway. This trail will also connect to the American River bikeway.

Route description:
From the access point near the Honeywell parking lot on Glenn Drive take the trail to the left parallel to Glenn drive. The trail crosses three small bridges with rough wooden decks before reaching the first railroad track crossing in mile. The trail then follows the tracks another mi. before crossing them again. Follow the bike trail along the creek under Sibley Street (the trail is not as steep as the warning sign would suggest). Turn left when you reach the sidewalk after crossing under Sibley Street and skate to Blue Ravine Road. Turn left on to the bike trail parallel to Blue Ravine Road. In mi. cross a bridge at the bottom of a short steep downgrade and continue another mi. before reaching Blue Ravine Road. The trail continues on the opposite side of Blue Ravine Road, but don't cross here. Instead turn left and skate along the sidewalk, watching for railroad tracks, to the traffic light at Riley Street. Cross Blue Ravine Road at Riley street and double back along the sidewalk to pick up the bike trail again. Continue on the bike trail up stream along the creek another mi. until the trail ends at Chaffin Court. This trail is planned for extension in 2004. Until then you will have to backtrack from here to return to the start.

American River Access:
To access the American river bikeway system from the start of this trail go back to Folsom Blvd and take the bike trail parallel to it to the left towards US 50 for 0.4 mi. Turn right on Parkshore Drive and cross Folsom Blvd at the light. Continue straight on Parkshore for 0.1 mi. to a trailhead parking lot on the right. Take the trail that begins at this parking area 0.2 mi. to the East Lake Natoma Trail. Turn left on this trail to skate 26 mi. to Sacramento!
