Directions
Heading either east or west on Highway 92 in Foster City, take the Foster City exit. Once on Foster City Boulevard, follow it to the north until it dead-ends at Third Avenue. Park alongside the street. The Shoreline Trail is up on the levee between your parking spot and the San Francisco Bay.
Notes
Spend a morning exploring this unusual section of San Francisco Bay's shoreline on curves of excellent pavement. Come early before the inevitable winds come up; otherwise, you may get more of a workout than you bargained for. Start off by skating northwest on the levee overlooking the bay. If you did choose a windy day, when you reach Coyote Point, you'll see some of the best boardsailers in the area making good use of their favorite natural resource. On your return, if you're enjoying the wind at your back too much to stop at your car, continue south and under the highway to follow Beach Park Boulevard (see the Foster City Loop below). But remember, you'll still have to battle the head winds on your return up the bay.
