Directions
From Interstate 880 between downtown San Jose and the airport, exit onto The Alameda, going south. Veer left at the "Y" in the road to stay on The Alameda where Race Street continues south. Six or seven short blocks east, just beyond the railroad crossing, you'll find the San Jose Sports Arena on the left. Park wherever you wish.
Notes
The San Jose Sports Arena is home to the Sharks (the ice hockey team), the Rhinos (the roller hockey team), and a parking lot that's large enough to accommodate thousands of loyal fans during games. Translation: when there's no event in progress, skaters can play on the vast expanse of excellent concrete. Since the lot is slightly sloped, you can practice slalom skating as well as tricks. Feel free to skate all the way around the arena itself or venture east towards downtown on Santa Clara Street (which was The Alameda to the west).
