Directions
From Interstate 80 just north of the Bay Bridge turnoff, take the Powell Street exit at Emeryville and turn west toward the bay, following the street as it curves around to the north. Parking is available in the lot at the end of the street near the marina.
Notes
The bike path pavement is unusually smooth at the Emeryville Marina, making for an excellent, if short, cruise along the east shore of the San Francisco Bay. It's flat enough for all skating levels to enjoy, but be sure to bring along a windbreaker. Like most bay-side locations, the wind can really whip up here. Follow the marina-side trail to the Harbor Department and back, and then go around the picnic area to get to the trail along the bay that goes all the way back to Interstate 80. When you reach your car again, skate out on the pier, located close to the parking lot at the far corner of the little picnic area. A quick skate to the end of the pier's easily traversed wood planks will give you a closer look at the boats in the marina.
